Hayden got to be the lead role in a tribute to the flag. He was Francis Scott Key (the man that wrote the Star Spangled Banner). He was so excited and could hardly contain himself. He did an amazing job and I am so proud of him!Thursday, March 19, 2009

The Other Family
I am happy to report that the Munk Family has gone on vacation indefinitely. The Other Munk Family has moved into their house and will be taking their place. If any of you would like to join the Other Munk Family I know where you can find some buttons! If you have no idea what I am talking about then you need to check out the book Coraline by Neil Gaiman and read it to your kiddies...but be careful you may end up going on vacation and having the Other Family take your place...

FINALLY!!
School Projects...AHHHHHH
"I Knight Thee Sir Spiky Hair"
The Principal sat on the throne and announced each students name, then the History teacher Knighted them. Hunter was Knighted "Sir Spiky Hair".
It was a brilliant event and I am amazed at what the students had learned. Hunter can tell you everything you need to know about the Middle Ages and much much more. Here are some pictures of Hunter and his friends at the Knighting Ceremony.
After the Ceremony the students went back to their homeroom classes where they engaged in games of battle. There was jousting, where the students had to stand in a circle and using a padded stick try to knock each other out of the circle. Then each student got to make a catapult and with marshmellow's they got to attack and "bomb" their opponents. But the favorite activity of the day was the authentic Middle Ages feast: chicken, bread, cheese, and drinks. Much to Hunter's delight they got to use their hands to eat, in fact they HAD to use their hands-no utensil's allowed. Hunter had a blast and talked and talked about it all weekend, now Hayden can't wait to be a 4th grader!
The students also had to make a castle for display, Hunter's got the award for: The Tiniest Castle. He was proud of it, Dave and Hunter have been working on it for weeks. He had to have a draw bridge, a keep, moat and towers. Hunter used candy Lego's and glued them together...not a small feat!

MVP
Hunter has been waking up every morning at 5 am and going to the rec center to practice basketball, he is the only kid out there, and he is noticed by everyone. On the days I do not get up and go, he gets really mad and me and makes me PROMISE to wake him up the next day! I am inspired by this kid and am so blessed to have him as my son! GO HUNTER!!

Valentines Day for Harley
It was an exciting Valentines Day for Harley this year, on her desk was sitting the biggest Valentines Bear I have ever seen. Her teachers and friends were all smiling and giggling when she walked in the room. Then she saw the bear and couldn't believe her eyes! It was from a boy at her school and she is very impressed by this gift, but very mature in how she handled it. She thanked him for the bear and told him he was a great FRIEND. Her dad was not as happy to see the bear come home with his daughter, and her mom just laughed and laughed. Harley was a bit embarrassed but has taken the GIGANTIC bear with her everywhere this weekend, so I know she LOVES it!
Valentines Day 2009
It was a good day February 14th 2009. The kids got lots of goodies from Grandparents and Parents. Hunter got:

Hayden got:
Harley got:

The night ended well, when Kimmy came to babysit the kids and Dave and I went to the Ballet. Madam Butterfly was playing at Capitol Theatre and our friends gave us their tickets. The Act I was AMAZING. Act II was...well we left at intermission (it was 9:45pm and Dave was done sitting in a tiny chair watching people flail around the stage).

Saturday
Saturday is a special day,
It's the day we get ready for Sunday.
We clean out the fridge,
We wash walls and doors.
And then we are ready for Sunday.
We cry and throw fits,
Throw everything on the floor,
And then we are ready for Sunday!
