Hey Batter Batter

Thursday marked the opening game for the S. D. Giants. Hayden was dressed and ready to go hours before departure to the field. This was the first game of the season after all, not to be taken lightly. He had a moment of butterfly's right before game time, but held onto his game face and no one was the wiser. This year is a good baseball year for Hayden, 4 of his friends were drafted to the Giants this year: Mikey, Christian, Isaac, and Connor. It was exciting to watch them play together!
The Giants started up to bat, Hayden's specialty. He stepped up to the plate with NO fear in his eyes, just the desire to slug it out of the park. And it came close, but no homerun this game.
Hayden played first base which is usually easy for him, catch the ball-touch the plate. He has done this many times, in fact 1st base is one of his most successful positions. But Hayden did not take into account that the other boys were nervous too and every ball they threw him when MILES over his head. It was a frustrating defensive game for Hayden.

The Giants easily pulled off the win and are looking forward to next Thursday when Hayden will be hitting with his new DeMarini bat...there should be some fireworks with that prize possession, so stay tuned.

Easter 2009

The Easter Bunny made a HUGE mess at our house this year. He left candy everywhere. And he left some pretty cool presents too! Harley got a bracelet watch, Hunter got indoor basketball hoops, and Hayden got a football.

The kids got to do an Easter Egg hunt with the Burningham's after Hayden's baptism and they got buckets full of candy.
On Easter Sunday we went to Maka and Baka's house for a fantastic Easter dinner. Then an Easter Egg Hunt for kids and adults. It was a wonderful day filled with church, food, fun, and family.

Hayden's Baptism

April 11, 2009 is the day that Hayden and Diego were baptised into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are very proud of Hayden and Diego for making the choice to be baptised and become a member of this church. It was a very small gathering of immediate family and the missionaries that have been teaching Diego. Thank you to Hayden's Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Harley and Hunter for helping with the music, prayers, and talks.

Touchy Touchy

This is what it looks like when we sit down as a family to watch TV. I am wearing the pants that are red with white polka dots, Hunter is wearing the red pants with the stripes down the side, and Hayden is laying on top of both of us. It started out with me sitting on the couch to watch TV, then Hunter sat down next to me and intertwined himself, then Hayden came and topped us off with his body.
Bizarre...more bizarre is that this is how we sit during FHE, scriptures, or Home Teachers.
I love my family.

Scouts!!

Well for those of you that read the birthday post for Hayden know that he got his scout uniform and could not contain his excitement for Tuesday night-Scout night! It was a big pack meeting for him many new and exciting things happened. First he was introduced to the pack along with the other new 8 year olds. When the pack leader asked if anyone wanted to say the Scout Motto Hayden raised his hand and rattled it off. Then the Pack Leader asked if anyone wanted to say the scout promise, this time Hayden waited for someone else to raise their hand and when no one did-up went his hand and he recited the Scout Promise. (These were things he memorized 24 hours after turning 8! Ambitious!)

Then they did a really cute object lesson showing the cubs that it takes the boy, the parent, and the cub leader working together to make a firm foundation. After that he got to cross over the bridge into the pack and that was really cool! All the cubs and their leaders stand on either side of a wooden bridge and the new scout gets to walk across the bridge and into the pack!

And just when you thought that was all...He earned his Bobcat and was awarded it! He got a badge and I got a pin! *He turned 8 on a Friday, pack meeting was on Tuesday...he worked hard and passed everything off on Sunday!*
Then it was Hunter's turn. The pack decided to start a new tradition. The leaders all got together and voted for 1 boy to be the Pack leader. The Den Leader said that this boy was someone that followed the Scout Law, Motto, and Promise. A boy that was a good example and leader to the other scouts. And the leaders voted unanimously for...HUNTER MUNK!! I marvel everyday at what a good boy Hunter is and I am proud of him that he conducts himself well outside of the home too. He is a natural leader and a great friend, this is such a great honor and I am sure it is just the beginning for him. The Pack Leader had some yellow cords and presented them to Hunter to wear on his uniform. It was a great moment and it gave Hayden something to strive to be. And yes, this is Hunter's "happy face."

Then the skits began. The theme was "What I want to be when I grow up." Hunter of course was Lebron James and Darin Sprouls...notice how ALL the boys seem to want to be the same thing...

Crafty Sisters

Harley has had a glass block sitting in my bookshelf for over a year. This block was supposed to have some ribbon tied on it and vinyl lettering in some sort of a cute saying...but as you all know crafts are very painful for me and thus the block sat and sat collecting much dust.

So my sisters, the best Aunts ever, took the block and did what any wonderful mother would have done-they finished it! After school on Thursday the cute new block was sitting by the garage to welcome us home. Harley was so excited that she rushed it into the house and we took these pictures! Thanks Aunt Angie and Aunt Kristi. I am lucky to have such crafty sister!
