Game 4! A Blow-out!

The weather was less than perfect but the Blue Jay's did not let that get in the way of another big win. The Blue Jays scored 5 runs in the 1st inning crushing the Indians confidence. The Blue Jays must have been impressed with Rookie Munk's last game because he was back at 1st base. This young blood came through for the team again by making 2 crucial plays and stomping the Indians in the bottom of the 1st inning.

While on 1st, Munk congratulated Indians player, Seth, on a good hit. Seth and Munk have been friends for years, a relationship that started in Kindergarten at LPA.
Hayden, Seth, Jonah, & Hunter all school buddies at LPA

Regardless of the friendship they have, the Indians must have had their confidence shaken by the amazing Blue Jays because the second inning was 3 up 3 down. When #7 got up to bat he crushed the ball in between the pitcher and 1st base. This kid has some serious wheels on him, just when you think he is out, he beats the ball to the base every time!

The 3rd inning sealed the Indians fate when the Blue Jay's scored 18 runs to their 5 runs. Munk ended the game with a spectacular slide into home plate. Munk spoke with reporters after the game and said, "Grandpa B and Grandma B were here at the game. I did good while they were here because I love them. I thought Bronson was the best runner." There you have it, humble and loving, what more can a coach ask for?

Baby Jaguar

What do you get when you put Hayden in a room (at night) with a bandana, shoe laces, and animal print pajama's?
A baby Jaguar who has been captured by poachers! The horror of it....those of you with weak stomaches may want to look away.

The poachers are still at large.

No Bed I Said

I will not sleep in bed, I said.
I will not sleep by Fred or Ned.
I will stay awake and play instead.
I will stay awake until I'm dead.
I will not sleep in bed, I said.
But I will sleep on tipping chairs of lead!

Yes, those are Harley's PJ's but he is
in animal form right now-Jaguar of
course!

Grease!

The kids are hard at work and June is closing in. Harley plays the part of Sherry and sings a solo. And Hunter is Eugene and has some really funny parts. The musical will be showing at Davis High School June 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21. If you are interested in getting tickets let me know and I will get you the info. Enjoy the pictures!

Team Giraffe

Today was the Autism Walks event at Cottonwood High School. My family and friends came out to support Hayden and me and we had a great time playing, walking, and walking! It was a 5k (3miles for all of you who are also metrically challenged) and after the 1st lap the kids were ready to play but they were champions and finished the entire 5k. Thankfully the sun was out and the weather was perfect!

The walk was to raise money for Autism research and to show off our fantastic children, siblings, and others that are on the Autism Spectrum. They are amazing people that are the future of our world so it was nice to have all the support that I got. I am so grateful to be surrounded by friends and family that love and support my family in our adventure down the Autism Road. Thank you Matt, Kristi, Bostyn, Leighton, Angie, Peyton, Stockton, Easton, Hunter, Hayden, Ginger (Maka), Dena, Martha, Echo, June (& family).

Munk: MVP of Game 3

If you missed the game Friday night, you really missed a good one! Hayden started the game off at 1st base and made 2 crucial outs back to back. This kid hits the field calm and collected with a focused look on his face. But his dedication pays off when he produces amazing plays in the field.

In the bottom of the 1st inning, Munk came out swinging. He hit the ball into the right field awarding him a double. When the next batter hit the ball, this gutsy #7 raced around third and headed for home. The crowd went wild when he slid into home plate...SAFE! Making the score 8 to 2 Blue Jays.
In the second inning the Cubs didn't have a chance to get some runs due to the placement of Munk on 2nd base. This amazing defensive player crushed the Cubs by getting another 2 outs at second base, stopping the Cubs from getting any points. The talent of this kid is endless. When fans yell from the crowd Munk stays focused and is always in the ready position. What a player. Hayden said is motivation for the game tonight was having his brother, Hunter, in the dug out taking care of his equipment and offering him words of encouragement. The game ended with the crowd roaring and the players smilling, at least the players for the Blue Jays. They beat the Cubs 15-13. During the team meeting Coach Hunt awarded Hayden the "game ball."

Ouch!!

Sunday night Hunter woke up with a tooth ache. It kept him up all night, we gave him tylenol, a hot pad, and attempted to get him comfortable until morning. I called the dentist and got him an appointment for later that day. And since Harley's spacers keep popping out I figured-2 birds one stone-right?

So off we go to the dentist and they take Harley back first. The dentist took one look at her teeth and said, "She is ready for braces, the sooner the better. But I am not comfortable with doing them, she is going to need a lot of work." Poor Harley, she is excited to get braces and have happy, straight, beautiful teeth, but she has had so many painful things happen to her mouth already...she just wants to be done! Oh yeah she also had a cavity, which she was NOT happy about. So off to the "Tweetment Room" she went to get that filled and her spacers removed. Since the laughing gas makes her throw up, she had to do this procedure without it...OUCH!

Hunter was next and he had a huge cavity on one of his molars. Thankfully it was on a baby tooth, so no big deal right? Well the cavity was big enough and painful enough that the tooth had to go! So off to the "Tweetment Room" went Hunter. His tooth was really stubborn and the roots refused to leave his mouth so there was a lot of digging and the dentist apologized repeatedly. OUCH! In 2 weeks Hunter gets to go back and get his top spacer put in!

They both had a throbbing mouth by the end of the hour and it earned them an ice cream at Wendy's. It was the least I could do for them...it was painful to watch I can't imagine what it was like to be them...OUCH!
ps. Hayden would like everyone to know that he did not get a prize at the stupid dentist office!

LOST!

I lost my littlest pet shops and I want them really bad. I lost them because I had them at school. And I really want them back. This is our phone number ******* I want people to call me if you find them. They are little, and they are bobble heads. They are a crab, a dog, and a gecko, and a dog that has a drink and a bed. That is all. Hayden Munk

This is the "Lost add" that Hayden made for the newspaper and the flyers to put up around the neighborhood. The missing part of the story is: Hayden put them in his pocket, took them to school, played with them at school, put them in his desk, and forgot to get them when he went home. So in theory they are still in his desk right? Hmmmm. But what if they are not in his desk? What if they are in the truck? What if they are behind his bed? What if Harley took them? What if someone broke into the school and took them? What if they are wandering the streets looking for Hayden and don't remember where he lives? So many questions so much anxiety what is a boy to do...make a Lost poster! It was that or look through the phone book and call his teacher requesting she go back to school, find them, and bring them to his house. (Not at all unreasonable)

Game on!

The team to watch this year continues to bring their 'A' game. The Blue Jays tromple the Angels 13 to 3. The Blue Jays up and coming rookie, Hayden Munk starts the game off with a bit hit landing him on 2nd base! After the game Munk was overheard talking to his mom saying, "Didn't ya know I hit the ball and ran all the way to 2nd base? Didn't ya know that that is called a 'Double'? I am going to hit a homerun next game." Stay tuned to see if that indeed happens, one week from friday at 6:45 pm. Until then "game on."

Batter Up!

Tonight was opening night for the Blue Jay's of Bountiful, Ut. The day started early for Rookie #7, Hayden Munk, with a great big breakfast to prepare for the game. Then the count down began. About every hour this amazing 2nd baseman asked "is it time yet? How much time?" He was also in his uniform with hat on and ready to go at 8am. "I need to be ready" was his response when questioned by the media.
The 6 o'clock hour FINALLY arrived and Munk was ready to go.

The Blue Jay's started the game as visitors which put them up to bat. The first inning was a little scary with 3 up 3 down. Hayden started at 2nd base and boy did he "rip it up." With 2 tag outs in the first 5 minutes he had to feel pretty confident with his skills as a defender. Now he just had to prove he could play offense. He got 5 pitches and it was looking pretty bad with 2 foul balls and 1 strike. But Munk seems to perform his best under pressure and he cracked the ball in between 2nd and 1st base. Safe!

The rest of the game was a breeze for this Rookie. He was safe at every base and slid into home scoring for the Blue Jay's in the 2nd inning. With an unbelievable 2nd inning under his belt he got to take a "break" in Right Field, backing up 1st base and keeping all the balls from escaping the infield. The second time Hayden was up to bat he hit another amazing ball behind the 1st baseman. His lighting fast running skills helped him arrive at 1st base and was awarded a "safe" yell from the base coach!

It is a good thing this devoted player practices his running on a regular basis. Rumor has it, older brother and football star, Hunter Munk, has a lot to do with Hayden's running training. This young Rookie is defiantly one to keep your eye on! The Blue Jay's win this game 9 to 7 against the Red Sox. After the celebration Munk took a minute to talk to the fans and media, this is what he had to say about the game, " I think I did pretty good. The team played great. I was real nervous before the game started, but I said a prayer in the dugout and then I hit great and knew we would win." Stay tuned for Wed when #7 comes head to head with the Angels at Mueller Park Jr. High. The Angel's may be in need of a miracle if they want to beat team Blue Jay's.

The photographer that took this amazing slide at home has been fired due to the blurriness of the photo. But we thank them for their attempt! If you squint your eyes you can see Munk sliding into home! GO #7!

Bountiful Brave

Dave will be a Counselor at Bountiful High School starting next school year! We are so so so excited for the move and can't wait to eliminate the gas bill in our budget. This is a great opportunity for Dave to be closer to the kids. They can't wait to run the halls of BHS looking for their dad's office! Dave is excited to get an office with a window! And I am excited because when he says "I am on my way home" it will only take 5 minutes for him to WALK down the street! Even though it is hard for me to accept the color Red (I prefer maroon and gold) I am happy to support Dave and look forward to next year!

Happy 80th Grandma Miles!

Great Grandma Miles celebrated her 80th B-day, April 3, 2008. All the family got together at her house in Taylorsville and had pizza, salad, bread sticks, and cake! Grandma did a lovely presentation on her life thus far and read some hilarious writtings of Uncle Doug's. We had a great time visiting with with cousins, Aunts, and Uncles. The men left for the priestood conference session so the kids and mom's stayed and played, took pictures, visited, and ate! As for the presents, each person decorated a page and put it in a page protector. Maka put all the pages in a binder and we gave it to Grandma as a book of memmories. She also got a trip to California!! Not to mention spending money!! She is a wonderful Grandma who does so much for each of us, we love her so much and enjoy the time we get to spend with her!

Harley's Debut

Last night Harley and the other 5th graders at Legacy Preparatory Academy performed 2 songs on the stage at Woods Cross High School. The first song they sang and danced to was "Anything You Can Do" by Annie Get Your Gun. The second song they sang was "We Go Together" by Grease. This was the perfect song for Harley to sing and perform--because of the Grease Musical she will be performing in at the end of June. It was a great night, Harley looked cute and sounded great! We are proud of her for getting on stage and performing amid nerves (much scarier that the softball field).

Hunter's Bear

Hunter (& mom) has been working really hard to earn his Bear in the Scouting Program. He had a lot of fun working with Brother and Sister Leishman. There were many months were Hunter was the only boy in Scouts so he had a lot of attention. He gets to work on his Arrow Points now and then in August it's off to Weblos!
Congratulations Hunter!

Happy Birthday Hayden

For the 1st time in 7 years we have had a successful birthday celebration with Hayden. He was really excited about all the presents everyone would give him. Even though the list changed daily all the gifts were right on target and he was happy. His favorite gifts are the Littlest Pet Shop Hospital and the Star Wars Lego set. The grandma's did good! His other favorite gift was the Webkinz penguine that he named Mumble...then Flurry, then Phillip, then Happy Feet, then Chubby Cheeks, then Mumble, then (finally) Chubby Cheeks.

He got: 2 snakes from Harley and Hunter (fake of course, but it didn't make Grandma B feel any better), Sports MP3 Player (meaning it can get banged around, dropped, stepped on, and wet and will keep working! Perfect for him!), basketball shorts, spongebob shirt ("Today is another day... to mess things up!"), Knex, Star Wars Lego set, brown jacket with a hood, Star Wars action figures, Littlest Pet Shop Animal Hospital, and Chubby Cheeks the Penguine.

Happy Birthday Buddy! March 27, 2008 7 years old!

In Loving Memory

This year seems to be starting off a little rough for us. We had yet another death in our family. Our Grandpa/Great Grandpa Val Dean Dalling passed away March 26, 2008. The kids got to spend Thanksgiving with him in Idaho and we are now grateful for the time we were able to spend with him. We will miss him, but know that he is in a better place, and know he has been reunited with Grandma Dalling.
I have to give thanks to my Uncle Dean and his family for taking such good care of Grandpa and Grandma for all these years. Uncle Dean can now sleep in peace at night.
I am also thankful that I was able to help take care of Grandpa while he was staying with my Mom and Dad and over Thanksgiving. Grandpa Dalling was a great man and we will miss him.

Hunter's Longhouse

Hunter got to make a model of a Cheroke Longhouse. With much help from Dad and Hayden he finished it this weekend and will turn it in on Tuesday. It was not his favorite thing to build but he did a good job sticking with the project to the end. He even attempted to end before it was finished by saying, "I am just not interested in this, you can finish it and let Hayden help, no on will know." Yeah right!

Happy Easter 2008!

Easter festivities started Saturday morning when the kids opened their Easter presents from Maka & Baka. Hayden got a green shirt, Hunter got a light blue shirt, and Harley got a sun dress w/ leggings. Thanks Maka! Then at 11am we went to Grandma & Grandpa B's house for a Easter lunch and egg hunt. It was chilly yet sunny so the kids had fun playing basketball, football, swimming in the hot tub, and looking for candy!
Sunday morning the kids awoke to baskets of prizes. Hunter got his very own basketball, Hayden his very own football, and Harley got ear rings for "big girls" and a pearl necklace w/ matching ear rings & bracelet. It was a small but good Easter and we had fun together. Happy Easter to you all!

Saturday, March 15, 2008

Harley did her State Report this year! She got Colorado and worked very hard on doing her very best. She worked hard on the written part and Mom typed it for her, then she worked hard on the poster, then the cake (with the help of Dad and Hunter), and finally the oral report.

Her oral report was typed up and ready to go...then the morning of the report our computer decided to blow up and erase everything! We frantically tried to rewrite the report and through tears and frustration Harley presented her report to the 5th Graders at LPA. She did a great job and we are anticipating an A!

Addition to the Munk Family

Last week we were given the opprotunity to open our home to a unwanted, well-trained, loveable Golden Labrador. He is beautiful and VERY large, but the kids adore him. Hunter and Harley named him Dwight Shrute (if you are not rolling with laughter you need to brush up on your "Office" experience). We call him Shrute and he has adapted well to our family. He loves to be the center of attention and needs lots of hugs and loves. Thank heavens we live with Hayden, he takes care of most of the attention that Shrute needs. Hayden has discovered that he can ride Shrute, play football (tackle of course) with him, and put him in a head lock during a wrestling match! Shrute is a champion and we are all grateful Hayden is directing his physical attention to Shrute instead of us!

Battered and Bruised

February, the month of...bruises and gashes! Apparently the "love in the air" has affected my children in ways I can't explain. Saturday night we were at Kristi's house eating dinner. Hayden, Hunter, Harley and Bostyn were in the playroom having a great 'ol time. Hayden was climbing on tables, jumping off chairs, and crashing through the house. He was told to calm down so he wouldn't get hurt. Which is exactly what he did-calm down. He sat on the "little kid" table and was watching Hunter play Zelda when out of nowhere he begins to laugh uncontrollably. He was laughing so hard he lost his balance and fell off the table and hit his head on a wooden rocking chair. Yep-just sitting and laughing-split his right eyebrow open. So off to the ER we go...when the Dr. came to see Hayden (after everyone calmed down about his eyelashes) she gave me my choices. I told her the activeness of my child and she made the choice for me. Glue! She glued his eye back together, then glued the glue, then glued the steri-strips onto his head, then put a band aid over that. The nurse was a bit amazed at the amount of glue she put on his wound, but I thank her every time he bumps his head while crashing through the house. Now to make matters worse, Hayden is allergic to the adhesive on Band aids, so the skin has been ripped off his head in 2 spots next to the glue! So I, being the medic that I am, constructed a bandage with gauze and special medical tape...yeah the "special" medical tape also ripped off skin and now Hayden won't let me near his head. What is the moral of Hayden's story?? If you want to get hurt...calm down! P.S. the scabs on his shoulders are rug burns from wrestling with Hunter (please do not turn me in to DCFS!).
Now onto Harley...she is the girly girl of the family, the princess in training, the graceful-yeah I can't use that word anymore! Yesterday she was dancing in the kitchen at Jules house and hit her face on the table, black bloody lip! Then today she was jumping on the trampoline with a phone in her hands (why?? Good question!) And the phone hits her on the other side of her lip cutting and bruising it. Tonight, while cleaning her room, Harley bends over to pick up a toy and smacks her face on the door, opening up both sides of her lip and causing more trauma that humanly possible! Moral of Harley's story? Stand still and don't move!
So, steer clear of us...and hopefully the February "love bug" won't hit you in the face the way it hit us!!

Pine Wood Derby 2008

This year was a great year for the Pine Wood Derby. The ward we belong to allowed the Tiger Cub Scouts to participate in the race this year. That was fabulous news for Hayden and not so fabulous news for Hunter (more competition). The boys took their blocks of wood to Grandpa B's house and started constructing their cars. They got to use the skill saw, sand, and wear the safety goggles!
Hunter wanted to do an Army Hummer and Hayden a race car. Well, Hunter's car turned out so good that Hayden decided (like always) to make his car look EXACTLY like Hunter's. The boys painted their Hummers in Army colors, and they did an amazing job! The day before the race Dad added the much needed weight and graphite on the wheels. Then the day arrived!
With butterflies in our stomaches the boys went with Dad to weigh the cars in and await the race. Both boys did so well, they won all their races. The Scout Leaders took the top 5 cars and gave them ribbons and a stand for their car. Hunter and Hayden made the top 5 so both got prizes! We were extremely happy that Hunter won this year and I was also extremely happy that Hayden won (less tears in the end). It was a eventful evening that Harley and I will never understand, yet strive to support the boys in our lives that LOVE the Pine Wood Derby!

In Loving Memory...

Junior MacPherson Munk "Pop"

Great Grandpa "Pop" passed away late Sunday night. He had been in the hospital for minor surgery and due to complications passed on. We got the news early Monday morning and are so sad at the loss of our Grandpa. We are sad for "Gauze" and know that she will miss him. We are also sad for "Baka" and Dad (Dave) because they will miss him too. "Pop" was always fun to visit because he always had a game on the T.V. and his back yard was so amazing. "Pop" had a work shop that he loved to be in and we will always treasure the things that he made for us. We will miss him but know that he is in a better place and looking down on us now. May he guide us in our paths to be with him one day.

In Loving Memory...

Butch

On Friday night Grandma Duke (the grandma we live with) called and told us that Butch, her dog, was in the hospital because he was really sick. Then Saturday Grandma called to tell us Butch had an infection and was doing really bad. Butch was a young dog so we were all very baffled by this. Hunter worried and prayed and cried a lot of tears for Butch while he was in the hosptial. Then Sunday night at 8pm Grandma called to tell us Butch died. We are all very sad and know that Grandma really misses her companion. We are all very sad also. Hunter's job everyday was to go upstairs and help Grandma with Butch, feed him, get him water, take him outside to go potty (then clean it up), Hunter is really feeling the loss of Butch and he misses him a lot. Hayden grew up with Butch and is the first dog he ever knew. "Butchy" is the one that helped Hayden realize his calling in life...to take care of animals! Butch was a good dog to all the kids and a great friend for Grandma. We will miss him.
